Braguita Records
“Fado Tropical” is Rita Braga‘s first album sung entirely in Portuguese. Inspired by research into 19th- and early 20th-century fado archives, texts and scores, “Fado Tropical” revisits the origins of the genre while exploring new sonic territories. Braga blends early fado with unexpected influences such as exotica, rock and film soundtracks, creating a distinctive and imaginative musical world.
The album includes reinterpretations of historical repertoire and rare 19th-century lyrics, as well as new versions of classics such as “Sou Miúda”, “Rua do Capelão” and the Brazilian song “Chão de Estrelas”.
