As for the work itself, it\u2019s not really what you\u2019d commonly conceive of as poetry, but rather observations and vignettes drawn from life\u2019s darker side, focusing on perversions, poverty, drunkenness, gambling, and bodily functions. But <strong>Bukowski<\/strong>\u2019s bemused air and self-deprecating humor\u00a0 blunt the shock value of the words and emphasize the universality of the themes.\u00a0 \u201cI want you to hate me,\u201d he says to the audience, but it\u2019s hopeless\u2014he is one of us.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Real Gone Music<\/strong> is rescuing this recording from the clinical, digital world of the compact disc and restoring it to its proper vinyl format.
