From the very beginning, the label stood for a rampant love of experimentation and Voigt&#8217;s unruly urge to habitually plough through new \u2013 and for the most part difficult \u2013 musical territory with a straight bass drum.<br \/>\nDriven by incessant transgression of boundaries and genres, <strong>Wolfgang Voigt<\/strong> ransacks schlager and polka, classical and pop styles, sampling his way across music history. Apart from this range of permanently shifting styles on the mothership <strong>Profan<\/strong>, you\u201cll also find the formal rigour of several limited, self-contained series and conceptual sub labels such as Studio1, Freiland, Kafkatrax or Polkatrax. Since 2009, Voigt focusses on increasingly abstract and creatively elaborate art\/music releases on <strong>Profan.<\/strong><br \/>\nWhich is why he launches the sub label <strong>Protest<\/strong> in 2010, where the expressionist pop techno 12\u201c single \u00e1 la Voigt has found sort of a second home, heavily informed by his paradigm of sex, drugs and pop art. Originally only available on strictly limited vinyl, a selection of refurbished <strong>Protest<\/strong>\u00a0tracks has now found its way onto CD, including two unreleased bonus cuts.
