SSS-Q + Carlos Guedes<\/h1>\n<\/header>\n

Four years after the excellent \u201cSongs From My Backyard\u201d, SSS-Q<\/strong> (Susana Santos Silva e Jorge Queijo) are back with a handful of stratospheric improvisations!<\/p>\n

Recorded in Abu Dhabi, in the early days of 2017, with the esteemed collaboration of the investigator\/musician\/experimentalist Carlos Guedes<\/strong>, SSS-Q<\/strong>\u2019s new effort raises the bar even higher than their previous works.<\/p>\n

If in \u201cSongs From My Backyard\u201d the tracks hesitated between the language of contemporary Jazz and primitive African rhythms, the duo\u2019s brand new album contains a series of complex and diverse musical dialogues, revisiting musical landmarks, testing all sorts of influences, but also – and more importantly! – providing new ways for improvised and experimental music to evolve!<\/p>\n

Susana<\/strong>\u2019s interpretations in tracks such as: \u201cOrange Sea\u201d, \u201cInception, or \u201cDesert Rush\u201d oscillate between sober jazz soloing\u00a0 and the harsh and corrosive aesthetics of Noise and Droning; Jorge Queijo<\/strong>\u2019s percussion is a fine double blend of Jonathan Kane\u2019s minimal experiments and old-school Kraut-Rock rhythms ; and the live electronics of Carlos Guedes<\/strong> in \u201cLittle Green Men\u201d \u00a0certainly evoke Herbie Hancock\u2019s \u00a0brilliant \u201cRain Dance\u201d.<\/p>\n

To cut a long story short, we are face to face with a powerful and unusual piece of music.<\/p>\n
