The man widely recognised as the \u201cfather of Afrobeat,\u201d Tony Allen<\/strong>, has teamed with techno pioneer Jeff Mills<\/strong> for the new album \u201cTomorrow Comes The Harvest<\/strong>\u201d!<\/p>\n

Brian Eno has described Allen as \u201cperhaps the greatest drummer who has ever lived,\u201d and his sonic mix of funk, jazz and Nigerian roots has influenced everyone from Damon Albarn to Charlotte Gainsbourg. Resident Advisor described Mills as \u201cone of the biggest American names in techno,\u201d an artist who helped establish the techno scene in Detroit in the 1980s before he progressed to electro symphonies, soundtracks and many other projects.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt really is a pure collaboration,\u201d says Mills of Tomorrow Comes The Harvest<\/strong>, \u201c<\/em>not just through music, but in our minds and spirit as well. Not being tied to other musicians when using a drum machine and electronics live can be a liberating experience.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause we aren\u2019t strapped together by some master tempo clock, I\u2019m able to\u00a0play<\/em>\u00a0my instruments and speak with the machine, not just programme a pattern and press play,\u201d he goes on. \u201cIt was important to have devised this technique so that I could meet Tony creatively.\u00a0 We each do our thing, but we can do it together. \u201cWe\u2019re working together to achieve something bigger than the both of us,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n

Enthuses Allen<\/strong>: \u201cThe difference is that Jeff can play with me, whereas the others cannot play with me. I can only play with them, but they cannot play with me\u2026yunastan?\u201d<\/p>\n
