Live Low – Live Low – K7

Live Low aka Ghuna X first came to Tesla through a link up with RIPIT and RIPITS link with artists in Portugal. Tesla Tapes was lucky enough to then catch Live Low playing live in Porto this year and TT was suitably impressed by the tough live sound and technical wizardry on display. Live Low seems to cut a pretty isolated figure on the scene(musically) in Porto and perhaps this isolation has helped to develop his unique sound. Textures and atmospherics that pull themselves apart to the point of collapsing backed up with steady underlayed grooves and quick hands on the delays and echoes pepper every track to blunt the edges. Some of the textures call to mind Opal Tapes’ Basic House backed up by DJ Krush rhythms but thats just an opinion.

Whatever the hyperbole, proof is in the listening, This Tape is an excellent addition to the Tesla roster. Its also mastered by Live Low himself, showing this is a man of many talents indeed.
