Lovers & Lollypops/Risco
“Cavala” is Maria Beraldo‘s first solo album (Lovers & Lollypops/Risco). Her music shouts out the freedom of a lesbian woman, the new stage of a clarinetist who becomes composer and the expression of an artist who emerges in Brazil of 2018.
From the top of her 30s, Maria composes the Brazilian musical scene as clarinetist and singer of Arrigo Barnabé’s group and as a member of Quartabê. Immersed in São Paulo’s musical universe, much teased by the weird world of Barnabé, and also in touch – recording and playing – with Elza Soares, Negro Leo, Iara Rennó, Rodrigo Campos, Laura Diaz (Teto Preto), Dante Ozzetti, Rômulo Fróes and other friends, Maria finds herself an author and in her first lead of compositions shows identity, accusing concise structures, few elements, short durations.
